Two fly identification workshops will be held at the Leckford Estate, on the River Test, on 28 and 29 June 2002. They will be run by experts from The Natural History Museum London, Liverpool Museum, East of Scotland Water and the John Spedan Lewis Trust. The workshops will focus on the identification and monitoring of up-winged flies, sedges and stoneflies as part of an initiative to provide information on the current distribution and status of flies in Britain.
The course will be free of charge and is being sponsored by English Nature – please apply before 1st June 2002 as numbers will be limited. We will be particularly keen to hear from people who intend to survey flies on their own patch and will contribute records to the National Recording Schemes. Please send details of where you will be able to do a survey with your application to Mr Stephen Brooks, Department of Entomology, The Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD (or email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
