Job title: Water Policy Manager

Reports to: Head of Science & Policy/Deputy CEO

Location: Work from home, with travel to meetings as required

Contract: Full time, fixed term contract of 3 years, with possibility to extend

Salary: £30-32k pa, depending on experience

The role

We are looking for a bright and personable individual with experience in water policy to join our team. In particular, the issues affecting water quality and quantity and the impact of these on ecological status and wild fish populations.

The role will include:

  • Desk-based research to compile evidence and case studies to inform national policy for lobbying.
  • Building and developing links with external stakeholders.
  • Working with the Head of Science and Policy to devise campaigns on these issues at local, regional and national levels.
  • Helping to provide supporters with the information they need to engage with the decision-making process.

Important qualities

  • Up-to-date knowledge of water policy and management including the relevant regulations, policies, politics and stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the politics of policymaking and experience of effective advocacy work.
  • Experience of synthesising scientific data and communicating them into impactful communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage meetings and represent the organisation externally.
  • A confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prepared to take the initiative and manage your own workload.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge and interest in fisheries preferable, but not essential.
