On Thursday 10th February Professor Russel Griggs published a report, on behalf of Scottish Government, that follows his review of the regulatory system governing aquaculture in Scotland. In the days that followed, Scottish Government were quick to welcome findings.

WildFish’s (formerly Salmon & Trout Conservation) director in Scotland, Andrew Graham-Stewart believes that the review signals more bad news for the environment and wild fish and responds to Professor Grigg’s review with a focus on his suggestions for sustainable growth, centralising control, no right for local community objections, centrally collected science and abandoning the precautionary principle.
